Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Ahun ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of our mobile applications, website, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using the Service you confirm that you are at least 18 and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

2. Our Service

Ahun provides a technology platform that connects independent drivers with riders seeking transportation services in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We are a technology company, not a transportation company. Drivers who use our platform are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Ahun.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Account Registration

To use Ahun you must register an account with a valid Ethiopian phone number. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information during registration
• Keep your account information up to date
• Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

One account per person is permitted. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent a ban or restriction is prohibited.

4. Rider Terms

4.1 Booking a ride

When you request a ride, you are entering into a direct transportation agreement with the driver who accepts your request. Ahun facilitates this connection but is not a party to the transportation transaction.

4.2 Fare estimates

Fare estimates shown before booking are based on expected distance, duration, and applicable surge pricing. Final fares may vary due to traffic, route changes, or actual trip duration. You will see the final fare in the app at the end of the trip.

4.3 Cancellations

You may cancel a ride before the driver arrives. Repeated cancellations after a driver has been matched may result in a cancellation fee or temporary restrictions on your account.

4.4 Conduct during trips

You agree to treat drivers with respect. Abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behaviour toward drivers will result in account suspension. You must not damage the driver's vehicle. You are responsible for any damage you cause.

4.5 Lost items

Ahun is not responsible for items left in vehicles. Contact our support team and we will do our best to help you recover lost property.

5. Driver Terms

5.1 Independent contractor status

You acknowledge that as a driver you are an independent contractor. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, agency, or franchise relationship between you and Ahun.

5.2 Eligibility requirements

To drive on the platform you must:

• Hold a valid Ethiopian driving licence appropriate for the vehicle you operate
• Own or have authorised access to a roadworthy vehicle that meets our vehicle standards
• Maintain valid vehicle insurance at all times
• Pass our document verification process and background check
• Maintain your account in good standing (minimum rating, subscription current)

5.3 Subscriptions

Access to the platform requires an active driver subscription. Subscription plans (Basic, Standard, Premium) are billed in advance in ETB. There are no refunds for unused periods of a subscription. You may cancel at any time; your access continues until the end of the paid period.

5.4 Fares

You keep 100% of the fare paid by the rider. Ahun charges no commission on any trip. Your income comes entirely from fares collected from riders.

5.5 Driver conduct

You agree to:

• Follow all applicable Ethiopian traffic laws at all times
• Treat riders with courtesy and professionalism
• Accept trips only when you are fit to drive (no alcohol, drugs, or extreme fatigue)
• Not discriminate against riders based on destination, appearance, or any protected characteristic
• Maintain your vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition

6. Payment Terms

All prices and fares are displayed and charged in Ethiopian Birr (ETB). Riders may pay by:

• Cash — paid directly to the driver at the end of the trip
• Ahun wallet — pre-loaded via Telebirr or Chapa

Driver subscriptions are charged via Telebirr or Chapa through our in-app payment flow. By initiating a payment you authorise us to charge the selected payment method.

All payments are processed by our third-party payment partners. We do not store full payment card details. Disputes about charges should be directed to support@ahunride.com.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
• Harass, threaten, or harm any other user
• Create fake accounts or impersonate another person
• Manipulate ratings or reviews
• Attempt to access any part of the system you are not authorised to access
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or copy any part of the app or platform
• Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to interact with the Service
• Transmit viruses, malware, or any harmful code
• Solicit riders or drivers to transact outside the platform to avoid fees

Violations may result in immediate account suspension and referral to the relevant Ethiopian authorities.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Ahun apps and website — including text, graphics, logos, icons, and software — are the exclusive property of Ahun and are protected by Ethiopian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your personal device solely for the purposes described in these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service.

9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Ahun is not liable for:

• The conduct of any driver or rider
• Any injury, loss, or damage arising from a trip
• Service interruptions, delays, or errors
• Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If that fails, disputes shall be resolved through the courts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we determine that your continued use poses a safety or legal risk.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 7, 8, 9, and 10 survive termination.
